Jan 01,  · As McCoy Tyner approached his 69th birthday on Dec. 11, he could look back with a profound sense of pride on an incredibly rich recorded legacy that includes over 80 albums as a leader with Blue Note, Milestone, Impulse!, Columbia, Telarc and other assorted labels, and at least a dozen timeless, hugely influential titles with the John Coltrane Quartet, including Crescent, Live at the Village.

  5. Bobby Hutcherson joins McCoy Tyner's trio for this rich, fluid album of originals and standards. The fact that Hutcherson and Tyner still often tour together 37 years later speaks volumes for the extraordinary empathy they share. Rudy Van Gelder remastered edition. Blue Note.

  6. Passion Dance - McCoy Tyner Let's hope the execs at Blue Note get the message. The commercial failure of 'Highlights' is a direct result of the label simply losing its way in the marketplace. 9. Time For Tyner CD music This Blue Note release is worth every penny for the first four tracks alone! McCoy, along with Bobby Hutcherson, Herbie Lewis, and Freddie Waits play like one person. This is very powerful and inspired music. This proud quartet comes bursting out on African Village with the intensity level bristling for 12 minutes.
