  5. On vinyl for the first time in decades, this was Muddy' Waters's first, and Chess Records' third, LP release, collecting his hit singles for the label to that point. It features indelible, deeply influential tracks, including "Rollin' Stone," which inspired a certain British band/5(67).

  7. The Best of Muddy Waters was the first compilation of Muddy’s classic singles for the LP market, listed among the new releases in an April issue of barcountfitmaduseshoyracalromarda.coinfo was only the third LP ever issued by Chess, and the first that was strictly blues. There may be more tracks on subsequent reissues and repackagings of Muddy’s Chess work, but even today these 12 tracks still represent the best.

  8. The rural South was a hotbed for the blues in the ’20s and ‘30s, and young Muddy became entranced with the music when he discovered a neighbor had a phonograph and records by the likes of Blind Lemon Jefferson, Lonnie Johnson, and Tampa Red. ― Allmusic. 1.
